I had not so much comment on the accommodation as well on the treatment from the owner and the staff. I said so in the guestbook. I hope that de owner has taken messures to improve the professionel behouvere of her and her staff. That was the only reason to make a comment. 17.07.2009 by Eleen Joubert (Owner of Hill Top Country Lodge) from South Africa - The bad review from Tiny and Nel Romviel was brought to our attention by one of our guests. Their comments on our listing on Country Roads contradict their comments left in our guest book just after their stay. Their comments in our guest book were extremely positive and they informed us of how impressed they were with the service and stay at Hill Top Country Lodge. Mr. Romviel and his wife have stayed in our smallest room at a rate of 65.00 Euro per night with bed and breakfast included. Why didn't they upgrade? The room (and en-suite) where they have stayed in is 9 x 5 meters that calculates to 45 square meters! His comments left on this website totally contradicts his comments left in our guest book as well as his personal conversation with us. We are really disappointed with the fact that these comments have been on Country Roads' website for so long. Luckilly we have proof of the comments left by the Romviels in our guest book. We have no doubt that all guests visiting our lodge will have a great and memorable stay. 15.07.2009 by James Hanson from USA - 5/5- I do not know what this guy is talking about. I have found that the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Maybe Tiny and Nel Romviel did not have enough money for the large rooms and could afford only the smaller single rooms. The rooms are, however, big! The staff is friendly and made me feel at home. The atmosphere was great and the breakfast consisted of a wide variety of selection. Well, it is obvious that a BED and BREAKFAST will not have a wide selection of other meals and is clearly not understood by the Romviels. I had the opportunity to dine with them the one evening and found the service and meal EXCELLENT. It made me feel at home! It was highly appreciated when the owner approached me to intruduce herself. Clearly great care is given to their guests. This lodge is definately recommended to all! I look forward to my next visit to South Africa. 02.02.2009 by Tiny + Nel Romviel from the Netherlands - 3/5- Tiny + Nel Romviel the Netherlands 02-02-2009 We stayed in januari 2009 1 night in this wonderful lodge. The lodge is wonderfull decorated and has much space around the lodge. De rooms are not big, but contains everything that a traveller needs. We missed although a terras of balcony. We felt a little claustrofobic The staff of this lodge is not adequat. The receptionlady is not kind or warm pf helpfull and has a little interest in us. The management by the owner is nog good. When we asked for a sandwich to the waitress she must ask everything to the owner. We asked for a sandwich with ham. The answer of the waitress after asking to the owner was: we have no ham. Nothing was said about other possibillities like a sanwich with chee or what. She must ask that again. I can´t recommened this lodge.
